For many, Spring and Summer are seasons for
allergies. Allergies occur due to an overreaction of
the immune system to certain allergens.
We now have the highest incidence of asthma in Europe and allergies also appear to be increasing amongst us. Many of us cannot enjoy the outdoors due to symptoms such as sneezing, nasal congestion, runny nose, watery, itchy, red eyes, headaches, tiredness and wheezing and coughing. Wind-bourne pollen from grass, trees and weeds cause nasal mucosa to swell and obstruct the sinuses. If you suffer from hayfever, rhinitis or have other allergies eg to dust, animals, or household products, Spring is the best time to seek treatment with acupuncture or Chinese herbs. Acting now may help to lessen or prevent symptoms developing later into the Spring and Summer.
