Acupuncture can aid birthing

A new study from New Zealand measuring outcomes of midwives using acupuncture on pregnant women has shown that those receiving acupuncture in the last part of their pregnancy have:

  • a 35% reduction in induction rates

  • a 31% reduction in epidurals

  • a 32% reduction in emergency caesarean sections; and

  • 9% increase in normal vaginal birth compared to the general population
