Jess at Holistica Health can tell you more about how
pilates can help you to strengthen, stretch, relax
and workout.
What is Pilates?
Pilates (pronounced Puh–Lah–Teez) focuses on using the pelvic floor muscles to stabilise the centre and work the deep core muscles to strengthen from the inside out, creating a more aligned, streamlined body without building bulk. More than just exercise, Pilates at Holistica Health, Fitness and Dance are a series of controlled movements to engage one’s body and mind based on the principles of alignment, breath, centring, control, co-ordination, concentration, endurance and relaxation.
I am pregnant, can I still do Pilates exercise?
Pilates during pregnancy is great and possible! By looking after the alignment of the lower back, groin and shoulders, and concentrating on the breath during pregnancy, Pilates keeps the body looking and feeling great! And baby loves it! Working the pelvic floor muscles during pregnancy can aid the delivery too!
I am a beginner to Pilates can I still attend a class?
Pilates classes at Holistica Health, Fitness and Dance are suitable for all levels from beginner through to the more experienced exerciser. It is advised that on first attending a Pilates class at Holistica, arrive 15 minutes earlier so Jess can guide you through the pelvic floor area and discuss contra-indications before the class begins.
I have an injury can Pilates help?
Pilates at Holistica is recommended from many physiotherapists (including Dave Hancock of Virgin Active and ex Leeds United) and doctors for rehabilitation exercise. To discuss rehabilitation Pilates exercise at Holistica, please contact Jess. Please note doctor or physicians consent must be given before attending a session at Holistica.
