Caitlin helps British Gas kick the habit

Did you know that I offer 'stopping smoking' sessions
to groups and individuals? I have run two groups this
year at British Gas (Centrica), which have been very
successful.
50% of those attending have stopped smoking completely with the support that acupuncture offers
30% have significantly reduced the number of cigarettes they smoke
100% said they would recommend acupuncture as a useful tool in stopping smoking.
In a stopping smoking treatment ear points are used, as you may have seen on Kate Moss recently in the tabloids. This is called auricular acupuncture. Tiny needles or ear seeds (stick on stainless steal pellets) activate various points in the ear to combat withdrawls from nicotine. The treatment can help to lessen withdrawls such as sleeping disturbances, mood imbalance and irritability and promotes feelings of relaxation and calmness. It also helps to clear out your lungs and enhance your breathing. One group member reported, “I didn’t have any cravings and felt really calm and relaxed – not like other times I’ve tried nicotine replacement therapy. I’d recommend acupuncture to anyone wanting to stop smoking”.
I also use the NHS booklet ‘Giving up for life’ in my groups. It includes useful tips and exercises to help you focus on stopping smoking. More information at givingupsmoking.co.uk.
The NHS smoking helpline operates 24 hours providing information and support: 0800 169 0 169.
