About Caitlin

caitlinI qualified in acupressure massage from the Northern College of Acupuncture in 2003 and in acupuncture in 2005. I have run a successful clinic since 2003 in North Leeds that attracts both men and women of all ages and backgrounds.

I have worked with a variety of local businesses and organisations in Yorkshire including Metro, British Gas and Brahm. I have also worked with local voluntary and charitable groups including St Anne’s Drug Services, Dosti, Vandan at the Cardigan Centre, Leeds MIND, Community Links, Together (formerly MACA), The Positive Care Programme, Active for Life and North East Leeds Primary Care Trust.

Prior to training in Chinese Medicine, I worked in the addictions and mental health fields in Edinburgh, Leeds and West Yorkshire. I was trained to offer auricular acupuncture (in the ears) whilst working with people who wanted to stop taking drugs and saw amazing effects. Not only were people not wanting to use drugs and managing their withdrawals but they were more motivated and had more energy. I then discovered the benefits of acupuncture myself having suffered a back injury after a car crash. I initially had a course of physiotherapy, osteopathy and lots of therapeutic massage. Nine months after the crash and still experiencing constant pain, acupuncture was the only therapy I had which took the pain away and offered me relief. It gradually strengthened my back and I am now completely pain free.

My interest in working with fertility and pregnancy initially came from my patients, who have taught me a huge amount over the years, and continue to do so. Without their generosity in sharing their experiences, feelings and advice, my own support role would be considerably less valuable. In this sense I often see myself as a resource. I have experienced my own story of infertility and childlessness, with a journey lasting 8 years which included various tests and interventions, IVF and plans to adopt. I believe this has given me more empathy for my patients and although I remain childless, I believe there is life after a diagnosis of infertility.

I am a member of the British Acupuncture Council, the British Fertility Society, the Acupuncture Fertility Network and am affiliated with Zita West.

I am a Zita West affiliated practitioner, belonging to a nationwide network of practitioners who have a special interest in fertility and pregnancy and whom have trained with Zita West.

About Kylie

I hold a BSc (Hons) degree in Acupuncture from Leeds Metropolitan University, gained after 4 years full time study. Initially I studied nursing and was awarded a Certificate Of Health In Nursing before I went on to focus on acupuncture.

I’m particularly interested in working with Traditional Chinese Medicine as a complement to Western Medicine and feel that I bring elements of both into my practice.

I have seen the benefits and quick turnarounds in the health of people I treat and believe that acupuncture can benefit health and well being. On a personal note, I am also interested in alternative therapies such as shiatsu, aromatherapy and herbal medicine.

I’m fully insured and a registered member of the British Acupuncture Council. This means I have to keep my skills up to date and adhere to strong professional standards.
