1000’s of British Women Travelling Abroad for IVF
21 July, 2009
A new study has measured just who is travelling where and from in the bid to access IVF. British women are the 6th most likely Europeans to travel to find IVF treatment. Common reasons for this are better access to IVF abroad particularly for women over the age of 40. Egg donation is more plentiful in some countries such as Spain and therefore appeals to women who if they stayed in the UK may be waiting up to 2 years for donated eggs. Costs can also be up to 50% cheaper in some other European countries. The Times reported on the story.
